Drenthe paintings

During his stay in Drenthe Vincent painted several studies, at least thirteen in total. The experts agree that not all of these survived, those who did are depicted here.

The stay in Drenthe immediately followed the period in The Hague where he had, from August, picked up painting again.
For this reason, and also because some works aren't exactly described in his letters to Theo, the experts disagree about the dating of some paintings, whether they are made in The Hague or in Drenthe. It is generally accepted that six paintings are from the Drenthe period.
These are:

Cottages
Oil on canvas on cardboard(?), F17/JH395, 35.5 x 55.5 cm

Two women in the moor
Oil on canvas on stretcher, F19/JH409, 27.8 x 36.5 cm

Peasant burning weeds
Oil on canvas on panel, F20/JH417, 30.5 x 36.5 cm

Farm with stacks of peat
Oil on canvas on cardboard, F22/JH421, 37.5 x 55.0 cm

Peatboat with two figures
Oil on canvas on panel, F21/JH415, 37.0 x 55.5 cm

Landscape at twilight
Oil on cardboard on panel, F188/JH413, 36.0 x 53.0 cm

About three others the experts disagree, these are:

Farmhouses among trees (Drenthe or The Hague)
Oil on canvas on panel, F18/JH397, 28.5 x 39.5 cm

Landscape with dunes (Drenthe or The Hague)
Oil on panel, F15a/JH393, 33.5 x 48.5 cm

Marshy landscape (Drenthe or The Hague)
Oil on canvas, JH394, 25.0 x 45.5 cm

This is not the place to discuss the exact placement of the above mentioned works. A thorough discussion can be found in the book "De Drentse tijd van Vincent van Gogh".
