Bij toeval op uw boeiende site terechtgekomen; bijzonder interessant (leerzaam en vermakelijk), maar ook verbazingwekkend.
Even een opmerking voor een correctie; onder de entry 'Het schilderij' staat de volgende tekst:
Afgebeeld is een plaggenhut, waarvan er vele waren in het geïsoleerde Drenthe aan het eind van de twintigste eeuw.
Ik vermoed dat hier de negentiende eeuw wordt bedoeld.

Van Gogh's work is amateurish, and it's value is a good example of what's wrong with the world of art. I don't believe he was ever able to actually sell a painting. His work was not that bad while he lived and it's not that good now that he's dead. The art vultures have taken over with their tight control over the suply and have hyped demand till it makes no sense at all. A pox on them, on the museum and all the parasites who have made a career out of a troubled and distressed human being.

Congratulations on your very convincing research. My feeling is you are right.Your English is also terrific, but can I suggest one change? 'Sticks' is not the best word for the title (they are small pieces of wood or branches).From what I can see in your illustration, it looks like a 'Half-timbered Cottage'(same construction technique as Shakespeare's house, though he was not a Drenthe peasant!) 'Cottage with sticks' suggests a pile of tree branches alongside the cottage. I think your 'sticks' are really 'timber beams'. I just felt that I needed to say what a wonderful site you've created.
I, too, am a non-art person, trying to help a couple of Australian friends who are sure that they have an unsigned Van Gogh!
So I've been searching around like you, but as you say on your website one expert does not necessarily agree with any others, so it is very hard work.
I, like you, tried to go about this in a logical way, but I think that artists only go by 'feel' rather than any logic?
I am so pleased to have found you, to know that I'm not alone in trying to do it by logic and meeting the various 'experts' with their own 'hidden' rules!  (yes, we too have the same VG Museum offical 'not in her opinion' letter)

Wat een prachtig avontuur. Doorzetten natuurlijk. Het verhaal doet me denken aan dat van die postzegelverzamelaar die vernam dat er een tweede zegel bestond van een beroemde zegel, waarvan hij dus het andere exemplaar van bezat. Met enorm veel moeite en geld wist hij de 2e zegel te kopen. Hij rekende af en verscheurde voor de ogen van de verbijsterde verkoper de zegel. Ziezo, nu ben ik weer de enige!!

Apreciei muito o site e os estudos feitos quanto a autenticidade da pintura de Vincent.
Mas acho ele realmente n㯠estaria interessado em saber se as pessoas acreditam que esta ou aquela pintura é ¯u n㯠original.
O importante foi conseguido, levar a pintura as pessoas comuns e mudar o jeito das pessoas verem o mundo.
E tudo isso unindo dois amores de Vincent, a pintura e os livros. Pois foi atraves dos livros que sua pintura ficou conhecida mundialmente.

Wie maakt het nog uit vals of niet, het is nu al een schilderij met een verhaal.
Een optie is om hem te verdelen in bijvoorbeeld 200 delen, (hou er zelf meer dan 100) geef een certificaat uit, laat mensen er voor betalen en doe hiermee meer onderzoek. Eventueel ook van het geld bij een notaris in een keer alle namen vastleggen. (Wie wil er nu niet voor een deel eigenaar zijn van een eventueel echte van gogh voor een klein bedrag???)
Of schenk hem tijdelijk (met vermelding van het verhaal) in bruikleen aan het van Gogh huis (als ze dat natuurlijk zouden willen??)in Auvers, misschien komt hij zo onder de aandacht van het grotere publiek, en kan er iemand iets meer voor je betekenen.
What does it matter, fake or not, it already is a painting with a story.
It's an option to divide it let's say 200 parts, (keep at least 100 parts yourself), publish a certificate, have people pay for it and with the money continu the research. Optionally have the names registered at a notary. (Who doesn't want to be a co-owner of a possibly real Van Gogh for a small amount of money???)
Or donate it temporarily (with notification of the story) to the Van Gogh House (if they want it of course??) in Auvers, possibly it comes this way under the attention of a larger audience, and can someone mean more to you.

??I am a painter and specialize in reconstructing Van Gogh's paintings that were lost or destroyed or from sketches and drawings he did. I paint them in his style. I have a website that you can look at by following the link below.
I wanted to tell you that if I were to try to reproduce a painting from Vincent's early period, it would be much more difficult and more complex than trying to reproduce a painting from his Paris, Arles, St. Remy or Auvers-sur-Oise periods.
On my website there is painting you might find interesting.......I call it the "lost painting"......and if you take a look, you will see that it is truly lost forever........yet, at the same time, it is still here for everyone to see .......(If that's confusing, you will understand after you see it)........

Ik kwam toevallig op deze site omdat we een discussie hadden met collega's wie nou eigenlijk de aardappeleters heeft geschilderd. Uiteraard van Gogh, maar dat moest even bewezen worden voor de ongelovigen. Internet bracht het antwoord en ook deze website met zich mee.
Ik vindt het leuk om te lezen met hoeveel motivatie en passie jullie dit aan het uitzoeken zijn. En het blijkt ook dat je niet perse wil dat het een van Gogh moet zijn vanwege de eventuele waarde, maar gewoon om een antwoord te vinden op de vraag wie dit heeft geschilderd. Dus ik kan me jullie drijfveer goed voorstellen. Ik ben geen kunstkenner en kan alleen uitgaan van je bevindingen die ik lees op je site, maar naar aanleiding van die gegevens en mijn gevoel zou je best wel eens gelijk kunnen hebben.
Misschien als sommige mensen wat minder denken aan hun reputatie en hun zogenaamde gewichtige status, en gewoon nuchter zoals jullie dit zouden onderzoeken zou het antwoord misschien al boven tafel zijn gekomen.
Ik blijf het volgen, en hoop dat jullie het antwoord ooit nog zullen krijgen.

I found your site by accident as we had a discussion amongst collegues who did paint the "Potato Eaters". Of course Van Gogh, but it had to be proved to the disbelievers. Internet brought the answer and also this website.
I like to read with how much motivation and passion you are conducting this research.
It also shows that you are not insisting it must be a Van Gogh because of the value, but plainly to find an answer on the question who painted this painting. I can imagine your drive. I am not an art expert and so can only conclude from the findings I read on the site, but according these and my feeling I think you could be right.
Maybe, when certain people think a little less about their reputation and their so called high status, and just like you would investigate this, the answer might have been there already.
From now on I will follow it and hope you ever get the answer.

dat eigenlijk in een museum zou moeten hangen om door iedereen het in het echt te kunnen worden bekeken ik vind wat jullie schrijven en wat ik zie overtuigend het zou best wel een echte van gogh kunnen zijn ook wat er in zijn brieven staat wijst erop dat er ergens nog een ontbrekend schildery uit deze periode van van goghs werk in drenthe zou kunnen zijn

Very interesting story and a beautiful painting full of atmosphere which should be in a museum to be seen by everyone in real. I think from what you write and what I see convincing, it could be a real Van Gogh. Also from his letters it looks obvious that there is a missing painting somewhere from this period in Drenthe.
I would like to meet an authority in this area who observes open-minded and with eyes sincerely interested in art without prejudice.

Erg spannend om de bevindingen van iemand anders m.b.t. een mogelijke van Gogh op Internet tegen te komen. De reactie van het van Gogh Museum en met name van Louis van Tilborg is erg herkenbaar maar wederom frustrerend.Hij heeft inmiddels een naam op te houden voor wat betreft het afwijzen van mogelijke van Goghs met niet steekhoudende argumenten.Ik zal je een leuke anecdote vertellen: het schilderij van Bouwe Jans was ooit o.a. afgewezen vanwege het feit dat er een bepaald soort gele verf gebruikt was die Vincent nooit gebruikt zou hebben omdat het veel te duur was. Vorig hield collega Ella Hendriks van het VGM een presentatie waarin doodleuk onthuld werd dat die specifieke verf waarschijnlijk veel vaker gebruikt werd door Van Gogh dan tot dan toe werd aangenomen (dus werd zowiezo dus al wel gebruikt....).Het hele gedoe met die kontrakten in tweevoud is een grote schijnvertoning van het VGM.Als men het vermoeden heeft dat de herkomst van een werk uit Breda is wordt het gegarandeerd afgewezen.het enige wat men zich afvraagt is hoe men de aanbieder zo snel mogelijk af kan wimpelen.
Ik ken al inmiddels zo veel van dit soort verhalen dat ik dit durf te beweren.Ik hoop en vertrouw erop dat je van Ben Landais wel een fatsoenlijke analyse zult krijgen. De afwijzingsbrief die je gekregen hebt is overigens exact hetzelfde als die ik twee jaar geleden ontvangen heb voor een soortgelijk werk.

Very exciting to read the experiences of someone else regarding a possible Van Gogh on the Internet. The reply of the van Gogh Museum, and especially Louis van Tilborgh, is very recognizable but again frustating. In the meantime he has a name to keep up regarding rejecting possible Van Goghs with non-arguments. I?ll tell you a nice anecdote. The painting of Bouwe jans was rejected once because a certain yellow was used which Vincent couldn?t have used because it was to expensive. Last year colleague Ella Hendriks of the Van Gogh Museum held a presentation in which she revealed thast this specific paint probably was used by van Gogh more often than thought of till now (so the paint was used anyhow..). The fuss with the contracts in twofold is a big farce of the VGM. When they have the suspection the work origines from Breda it?s guaranteed rejected. The only thing they do is trying to shake of the presenter as soon as possible.
Over time I?ve heard so many of these stories that I dare to say this. I hope and trust on it that you?ll get a proper analysis from Ben Landais. The letter of rejecting you?ve had is exactly the same as the one I received two years ago for a comparable painting

Aangezien ikzelf al lange tijd bezig ben met een onderzoek van een werk van VvG uit de Ettense periode, begrijp ik als geen ander hoe frustrerend het vaak kan zijn wanneer 'autoriteiten' in veel gevallen maar wat zeggen, terwijl je door eigen gerichte studie meestal beter bent geﮦormeerd....
